"I think that the most important thing a woman can have next to talent, of course is her hairdresser."
Time flies, isn't it? It has been a week since my last post. The past week has been quite a bumpy ride for me. Nevertheless, my week ended on a good note! I had a NEW HAIR MAKEOVER by COVO Hair Salon!!! ((:
To be honest, I'm quite a low maintenance kind of girl. I only go for a haircut and hair coloring session once a year. :o On top of that, I do not blow dry and style my hair on most days (Confession: I'm lazy) unless the occasion warrants for me to do so.
Thankfully, I managed to know of COVO through rave reviews from friends. So when I had the chance to have a hair makeover with COVO, I was literally jumping for joy!!
COVO (which actually means “a hiding place” in Italian) is located at 43 Keong Saik Road. It was rather easy to navigate my way to the hair salon. 10 mins walk from Chinatown mrt. Good walking distance to burn some calories. :p
Anyway, you can't miss this beautiful shop front of COVO. Both the salon's exterior and interior are designed to be minimalistic.
This is how Balayage hair looks like - On a supermodel. Not on a commoner. *Note to self: Don't be deceived*
Pssst! Heavy images ahead! Read on at your own risk. (:
Yuya mentioned that to achieve a natural effect, it is advisable to opt for a 3 steps hair coloring stages.
1) Roots touch-up
2) Highlights (Involved Bleaching)
3) Base Color
I'll show you guys the outcome at each of these 3 stages!
1st stage: Roots touch-up
To achieve the sun-kissed highlights which would brighten up my entire frame, Yuya advised me that bleaching should be done. And that was my virgin try at hair bleaching in my life! Definitely not my last. :D
3rd stage: Base Color
What's the point of having a hair makeover without a good hair treatment? I opted for hair treatment right after my hair coloring session to maximise the shine and conditioning effect to my new mane. The hair treatment is done right after you get your hair washed! Just look at how cool the machine is, and the steam effect in the 3rd image (I was doing a selfie :p).
As a talented Japanese hair stylist, Yuya advocates in cutting/trimming hair when it is wet.

I love how my new mane can reflect different color under different lightings. Absolutely adore how the subtle highlights bring out the vibrancy of the entire hair look. As close as it can get to Balayage hair effect for commoners like me. (:
COVO is now offering a 20% discount on all salon services!

Thank you for reading such a long entry! I hope that you guys have found my review useful in making that final decision for a hair salon. Invest in your mane. Because you are worth it.
