If you have yet to heard of HOM Yoga, you better be! Hom Yoga is one of the growing yoga studios with an expanding fan base. It is a contemporary boutique hot yoga studio, with its flagship studio located at Level 6 of Orchard Central. The other studio is nestled in a loft studio along Canton Street (5 minutes walk from Raffles Mrt). It houses 2 yoga rooms in a three level loft studio that can accommodate up to 30 students each. But I especially adore the flagship studio at Orchard Central. It is ultra charming!
I signed up for HOM Yoga's 1 week trial, and of course, I had to make the most use for my dollars right. So I attended a minimum of 2 classes on average for 6 consecutive days. :p
Crazy? Yes.
Tired? Yes.
Satisfaction Level? 100%!
Grouchiness Level: Lowered by 99%! (: (: (:
I attempted a variety of their signature classes during my trial period - Hot HOM, Hot Hatha, Hot Flow, Hot Ashtanga and Yin Yoga. Each class lasted for a good and sweaty 60 minutes (with the exception of Yin Yoga). Classes are suited for both beginners and seasoned yoga practitioners, as instructors will provide variation to the yoga poses during the class.
Instructors over at HOM Yoga are knowledgeable and friendly. I would say that their yoga teaching style are closely similar to the instructors from the bigger yoga studios. Probably also because some of the HOM instructors completed their Teachers Training program at the more established yoga centers in Singapore.

I love the sleek, clean and minimalist New York warehouse vibe that the Orchard Central studio exudes. The flagship store houses two large and spacious yoga rooms, with high lofty ceiling-to-floor windows x White walls x Mirrors in each room. In fact, the layout and built of the studio inspires a very challenging yet sweat-blasting practice through the usage of energy efficient lighting, which produces sun-like heat during the practice. I can now safely say that HOM Yoga has one of the HOTTEST room temperature in town for hot yoga practice.
Pssst. I will share in my next post the yoga center with the hottest room temperature while practicing birkram/ hot yoga. (:

Speaking about the female changing room, the entire area is well-lit, spacious, pristine and ultra clean! The shower facilities are definitely above average (that's also what accounts for the high rates), where they have more than 10 shower stalls for the hot and sweaty bodies to take a quick shower after each yoga practice.
This will be one key consideration for me before I sign up for any yoga studio, as my patience is very limited. :/ Consider how sweaty I am already after a hot yoga class, and still I have to wait for 10-15 minutes before it's my turn to take a quick 5 minutes shower? I..... CANNOT..... TOLERATE THAT.....
Some smaller yoga studios charge you a minimal monthly fee for their classes, and yet they do not provide their members with decent shower facilities. So, really thank God for the decent number of shower stalls at HOM Yoga's studio! Oh, shampoo and shower gel are provided too! Two less things to bring to practice!
Lockers and towels are provided as well, so there is no need for you to bring your own towel to class. This is a good piece of information to consider especially if you are working. You don't want to lug and carry so many gears to yoga class after work right? So, that's another plus point over other boutique studios. (Yes, I'm referring to Sadhana Sanctuary and Yoga Movement.)
One thing that I really appreciate about HOM Yoga is that there were no hard-selling of packages after the end of my trial. The receptionists were very helpful in attending to my queries, yet not being salesy in pushing their packages. For my kind of yoga intensity, I should be looking at the unlimited monthly package - $345 per month. But.... The transparent rates are beyond what I could afford given my current lifestyle and budget. For people who intend to give HOM Yoga a try, do not let the price of the unlimited monthly package deter you from trying out the classes! Do note that prices also vary depending on the number of classes that you sign up for.
So here's my unbiased review of my experience with HOM Yoga. With the competitive rates in the market, let's wait and see how HOM Yoga will rise above the other boutique studios to garner more followings.
If you ask me if HOM Yoga is the right practice studio for you, my honest take is if you have the finances, by all means go straight for the premium boutique studio. For me, I have learnt my lesson the hard way. I'd definitely choose quality over quantity from now on.
'Til the next post.
Namaste!
